About Movinhand

Movinhand is a UK start-up that is quickly becoming the leading source of social recruiting services to the HR industry worldwide.

We started life building a recruiting marketplace for skilled professionals. In trying to help our customers solve the looming talent shortage, our attention shifted to social networks.

Through trial and error, we stumbled onto a new, enormously efficient and effective way of attracting and engaging with great candidates, especially in the skilled trades and professions. Today we reach over 4 million professionals each month having great conversations and matching amazing candidates to awesome career opportunities from around the world.

However, there is an increasing realisation, voiced by recruiting experts such as Greg Savage, that:

Matching candidate profiles to vacant job descriptions is often is the easy part of the recruitment process.

The hard parts are:

  • Approaching, enticing, seducing, and bringing those candidates to the hiring table.

  • Promoting and showcasing the finest professionals out there (even if they are not actively looking for a job)

  • Managing the hiring process, finessing the brief, handling the counter-offer, assisting with on-boarding and relocation.”

Our team has a combined experience of 35 years in the recruiting space in hospitality, retail and manufacturing. Having faced skill shortages for many years in our respective industries, we decided to build an online community as a new way of promoting the finest skilled professionals out there.

We are also building technology that improves recruitment and the candidate experience by humanising it more, not less.

Our Manifesto

For us, career success is not a matter of intensity but of balance; between risk and security, work and play, routine and change, expertise and curiosity.

We do not believe in silver bullets. You can start the revolution without us. We prefer evolution. No leaps and bounces, just incremental progress. Teams often overestimate what they can do in a day, but underestimate what they can do in a year.

We worry about becoming complacent, about relationships becoming overly formal, about creating bureaucracies. We would much rather be offended every now and then by spontaneous, genuine and open communication.

We do not believe in a ‘job for life’ mentality. Learning and unlearning is a continuous journey. Constantly discovering new passions, skills and people is fun. We believe in the complete freedom of each of us to choose when and where we will live and work. We stand for open organizations, borders and mindsets.

We believe in self-reliance, although it is neither easy nor comfortable. We are all responsible for all our decisions – good or bad. We are all given a few chances to improve our lives. It requires persistent effort and commitment to become free and autonomous.
